Calling all Technologians to pray for Tita Cory's quick recovery

Posted by Kevin Ray N. Chua on 9:23:00 AM 0 comments

Former President Corazon Aquino, the icon of Philippine democracy, is in pain. The Aquino family and their relatives have been thankful for the prayers of all the people around the world. We need a miracle and we must do our part.

I call on all Technologians to pray for the quick recovery of Tita Cory. Let us ask the Almighty God to give Tita Cory the strength and the courage to fight the cancer that has stricken her. We wonder why the good ones are in this situation, while the bad ones are spared from suffering.

Tita Cory, the people of Cebu Institute of Technology are with you. I was not yet born when you assumed office in the 1986 People Power in EDSA but I can feel how it was like to be there. Defending our democracy from a cruel dictatorship.

To all Technologians, let us pray for Tita Cory and show your support for her by tying a yellow ribbon on your place or putting a yellow ribbon on your chest.

Kudos on the roof extensions along the accounting area!

Posted by Kevin Ray N. Chua on 2:41:00 PM 0 comments

I must commend the men and women behind the construction and the near completion of the roof extensions in the accounting area.

I has been a long-standing problem to those who are paying their tuition fees and other educational expenses during rainy and sunny days. Parents and students, during this natural events, are turned to move forward their chairs thus, narrowing the passage area of the hallway. And there are also those hard-headed people who spit on the windows above the accounting area.

Now that the roof extensions has been made, I think the CIT Administration must also provide adequate lighting on that area. I have observed that during the day, it's quite dark. Maybe they can provide some fluorescent lamps along that hallway and have some of those lighted during the day and all of them during the night.

Overall, this good initiative will surely benefit everyone!

Dismayed over the CIT's new policy vs. flat sandal on women

Posted by Kevin Ray N. Chua on 10:11:00 AM 2 comments

I am really disappointed with the new CIT policy on prohibiting the women students from wearing flat sandals. I only learned about this one yesterday, during the Miting de Avance, when the Technologian Press asked this question to the candidates for the CIT-SSG.

If indeed this policy is already in effect, then the CIT Administration have failed to consult the major stakeholders of the school, the student especially the women. They have cried foul on this new policy because some of them were not informed or were not even aware of this new policy.

Despite this, the question still remains. Should this policy be implemented after all?

I don't think so. Wearing of flat sandals doesn't diminish the intelligence of the women Technologian. It doesn't matter if she wears high heels or flat sandals, as long as it is not havaianas, bedtime flip-flops or a spartan slippers. This is what has made me disappointed with the CIT Administration. Most of the time, they can't move forward. They put their one foot on the front, but the other foot still on the back. If we want to make CIT better, then we must move forward. The continued narrow-mindedness and conservative thinking of the people who made this new policy is really disappointing.

I share the sentiments of those affected with this new school policy. They should not have implemented this policy after all.
