With a lot of people hooked online, a lot of companies are tapping to the potential of the internet in marketing their products and to create a feedback mechanisms on what their customers thought or things to be improve on their products.

I have seen several medicine brands campaign using social media for marketing their products, providing information about it, asking their customers on what are their thoughts about it and also, refuting statements of those who doubt their products. There are also those who organize contests in order to create interest about their products by giving away cool prizes. These company strategy has been common these days and proves to be a successful investment when utilized properly and not just for the sake of having it.

It is a good thing that these medicine brands through their companies are tapping the social media in expanding their market. You have Facebook and Twitter. Some companies are also promoting their medicine brands using contests that can generate interests among their consumers. One good campaign that I saw online was Alaxan's Search for the Philippines' Tough Jobs. The contest has gained a lot of participants and also awareness about the product. One that can entice participants of a product's contest are the prizes and the bigger the prizes, the bigger exposure their product will have.

With the "share power" of the people online, their product can be promoted by their consumers online to other potential consumers, thus provide a good and affordable investment for companies. It's also good to know that even if these companies can't be able to provide an online presence for their products, they tap bloggers to promote it and provide them with the information about their products.

I don't know when is it too much but there are just some companies, especially those who are in Facebook and spam you, including your e-mail. When there's just too much, it can also turn off potential consumers. There is also concern that people joining their contests are not after all consumers of their products and just want to win the prizes. It can even lead to people creating fake accounts for contests in Facebook which would require the most number of "likes".

Companies, large or small, should tap the social media wisely as these can be very useful in making their products successful. The social media is a wide wide virtual word and the "share power" of the people can indeed make a difference by going viral.
